The traditional aboriginal inhabitants called it the 'Valley of the Thousand Hills'
UPPER GOULBURN GI
The Lost Valley
Nestled on the high slopes of Victoria's Great Dividing Range in the beautiful 'Victorian High Country' 1hour NE of Melbourne, Lost Valley Winery is set amongst majestic boulders of pink granite at a lofty 450 metres altitude with sweeping views of Mount Buller, first growth forests of Australian Ghost Gums and bordered by the trout filled King Parrot Creek below.
Almost forgotten by modern development, this land was called the "Valley of the Thousand Hills" by its indigenous aboriginal inhabitants; whilst the name for the Tallarook Forest that adjoins Lost Valley Winery, comes from the language of the Natramboolok Tribe meaning "Call of the Wattlebird".

Golden Cortese
A passion for Quality
Hand pruned, cane arched, leaf plucked, bunch thinned, hand picked...that is just part of the care given to producing the best fruit possible to in turn make the level of quality that Lost Valley has become synonimous with. All four Lost Valley premium varietal wines; Shiraz, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and the unique Cortese are made from pristine estate-grown fruit accross our two vineyard sites in the Upper Goulburn GI - previously known as 'Central Victorian High Country'.  Our vines at our Lost Valley site are planted on 15 acres of natural amphitheaters with their own unique red clay/granitic sand soil and micro-climate. Whilst our entire annual production from both Lost Valley and Mount Buller vineyards (total for both 25 acres) is just of @5000 cases across all four varietals, the wine's quality and following seems to make it all worthwhile.

** NEWS FLASH -

Robert Parker gives all Lost Valley wines the thumbs up.

The world acclaimed wine expert Robert Parker has reviewed all four varietals from Lost Valley and each wine has received excellent reviews.

Not only is the average score across all 4 varietal 90, but the very complimentary language also stands the wines in good stead. Needless to say a 90 score – for all varietals from the vineyard - from the Parker stable is no small feat!

Top wine distributors in the USA point out - “we can probably count, on one hand, the number of Aussie wineries with a 90 point Parker average score, this is incredible. Lost Valley Winery has truly come of age as one of Australia’s top boutique wineries”. Chris Daniele/Wine Trade Trust.

At this time Lost Valley does not operate a Cellar Door so we would ask you to shop either via our website (productavailability permitting) or from one of our many fine wine retailers located in Australia, USA, Canada, Indonesia and HK. Co-founders, Dr Robert Ippaso & Shane Jackman.

To order from our cellar door: click 'Our E-Cellar Door' and follow the instructions.
For a list of the fine wine retailers and restaurants serving our wine please look under the 'Taste and Find-it' section at the bottom of that page.

Oh and one other small thing - no we do not put our wines in for the plethora of medals and awards that are now coming out of all directions Internationally. All of us at Lost Valley feel that it would be pointless and merely an expensive form of self aggrandisment. We prefer to contribute any money saved to keeping our prices reasonable for our customers!! We often get asked...so we thought we would answer...!
